The N.C.P.E.D.P. Employment Unit has been instrumental
in raising employment-related issues at various forums. The Employment unit
spearheads N.C.P.E.D.P.’s campaign to promote the employment of disabled
people within corporate India. The unit regularly organises seminars to bring
together corporates and disability organisations to help find a way to employ
disabled people. The disability-friendly corporate logo
(shown on the right) symbolises this partnership.
The recognition associated with the N.C.P.E.D.P.-Shell Helen Keller awards transcends barriers of ‘industry sectors’; it provides a powerful incentive to employers and individuals to see their name thus honoured. The Seventh NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Awards -- recognising exceptional individuals and organisations who have established themselves as role models in furthering employment for people with disabilities -- have been announced.
The Employment Unit has been instrumental in getting the Confederation of Indian Industry to constitute a core group to evolve a policy on disability for the private sector. Cyber Media India Ltd, a leading I.T. publishing house, has run a campaign to sensitise the I.T. sector. View the list of disability friendly corporates put together by us from various inputs.
The work done on the N.G.O. and Corporate research studies is a milestone for the unit; their findings continue to guide people working on the issue.
