This website is promoted by The Society for Accessible Travel & Hospitality (SATH).
SATH's mission is to promote Awareness, Respect and Accessibility for travellers with disabilities and educate the travel, tourism and hospitality industry on becoming more accessible for persons with disabilities. SATH works vigorously for the creation of a barrier-free environment (architectural and attitudinal) throughout all segments of the travel and tourism industry, in the United States and abroad. The Society's efforts bore fruit in the access section of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and in the Air Carriers Access Act.

Rehabilitation Engineering and Research Centers (R.E.R.C.s), which are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education through the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, (N.I.D.R.R.), are centers for the intensive study of specific issues. Each R.E.R.C. has several project categories for its activities, including research, product development, education and dissemination.

The RERC on Universal Design at Buffalo represents a five year, three million dollar partnership between UB's Center for Inclusive Design & Environmental Access (IDEA Center) and representatives of Design and Disability communities nationwide.
